The narrative is interesting but there is very little jeopardy or high excitement as the story - missing girls, strange fenced off unmapped enclosure with strange tech stuff in the forest, etc.- unfolds. He befriends another fire watcher and is in contact with her over a radio they develop a bit of a friendship. The story is about a person who retreats to the middle of a forest to forget, becoming a fire watcher at the top of a tower. Having just completed this, I found it rather short, a little slow but very atmospheric.
